The following is what i blogged at http://ongjh1990.livejournal.com. I was very inspired by pastor's preaching recently and hope it'll inspire u guys too..In case you can't open the url link, here's the entry for ya...I strongly urge everyone to come down for next week's main service as pastor touch on what a real revival entails...Come and be blessed! (wa i sound like a church staff now...wahaha) Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been attending 4th service in church recently because i'm just too lazy to wake up for morning svc. But i really didnt regret going this time as pastor is back to preaching about church revival, one of the topics i'm most interested and passionate about. God really opened my eyes yesterday as i was once reminded that it all always begins with the unseen. Who actually saw the spiritual groundwork firmly anchored before every miracle revival? We are so blessed to see only the manifestations..Thank God for MMR..Thank God for pastor. Though he's imperfect, his heart is so perfect...
When we talk about a church revival, it is so easy to marvel and be amazed at the transforming power of God. Then we long for our home church to experience the same kind of revival..That when we step into the sanctuary, we feel the presence of God so strongly and once PNW starts, everybody jus bust into energetic praise and the atmosphere is just full of faith. But pastor's message reminded me that all these begins with the unseen struggles to make wrong things right, to humbly change what is not pleasing to God.
Revival doesn't just happen when we engage powerpack musicians, hosts to rara the crowd and dynamic pastors to convict the hearts of the people using emotional appeal with soft music in the background. So what if we FEEELL the revival coming? In the end, if our hearts are not changed, all these can be quite an awful facade. Sick people ain't healed, broken families ain't restored, our bad habits are not corrected. Experience corporate breakthrough in church begins with experiencing personal breakthroughs. Sometimes we yearn so much for the result yet we don't put in effort to change firstly, ourselves.. What needs to be changed first is not the church..Beware of your pride. Yes. You.
Is this the message we are going to send to the world? What about silence and solitude, repentance, healing the sick, caring for the ostracized, covering one another in brotherly/sisterly love, praying for personal needs and breakthroughs?
Is what we SEE more important than what God can do? Is that ALL God can do?
I'm so glad lighthouse doesn't plunge into prioritizing the outward appearance of the church, but really focus on sincere prayer for a real breakthrough.
Indeed, before anything great can happen, we must be patient, focus on the unseen first. Yes we may be laughed at, not appreciated, not satisfied with our current standings. But i believe God is going to look at all the sacrifices and grant us what we pray for eventually.
It all begins with a realisation. That we are unworthy, we are wrong in some ways, we have failed God yet He is worthy, never will He be wrong and He never plus chopp stamp fail us. But He chose to carry our sins and sickness away so that we may be like Him. Goes back to the gospel, right?
Realisation, repentance, return and then REVIVAL...
If only we just spend a little bit more time praying..Things will be so different.
We have a loooong way to go..I make no apology if i have made your heart heavy today..But soon what results will be tears of joy instead of fear..It's never too late to change..God is still waiting for you..Calling out to His children..My sons...My daughters...I miss you so much...
Have we all woken up from our long slumber? What are the things you need to change today?
Where is our faith today?
Inaugural support group
Thursday 20th March, 2008 marks the first inaugural support group for our zone! 8 out of 10 of us were there so the majority made it! I'm thankful to God for all of you because you were the prayer answered for many events such as this...
The support group exists because every individual one of you is a brick to a building. God is the cement holding us all closely together through prayer and spiritual support. Before we get caught in our busyness and start wandering in the 'wild', it's time we set our focus right to heaven above.
My hope is that through this support group, we'll be able to see even more positive outcomes and results from our personal life. Through prayers, our results will excel and personal life at home and with those around us will receive breakthroughs as well.
I've been impressed in my spirit lately about prayer. My heart harkened and i cannot resist but say, keep praying. Right or wrong, pray. Keep praying non-stop. Pray for anything.
Everything.
Keep running the race for Jesus Christ!
Dedicated time of spiritual feeding
Since the past and the fact has never changed, people do draw closer to God in worship and prayer. Apart from that, fasting is also spiritual discipline. With the growing demand to be busier each round of work and studies, we can easily become unclear of our purpose and lose sight of what's eternal. BUSY have a interesting way of meaning, Busy Under Satan's Yoke. Every new day, as students, we often find ourselves always saying, "very busy, no time for anything". Trust me, it will forever remain that way until we find a CHANGE and adjustment in our lives.
In our current context and affairs, who's not busy at all? Everyone is and it has become the 'in' word of our time. Satan is also rather versatile as time passes by. The past familiar word is actually this, stress. This kind of stress back then causes the mind to break down and becomes tired to push on. Today, people are smarter and full of intellect, so does Satan and his kingdom. Instead of stressing us with the work, which we can easily overcome with knowledge and wisdom, he makes us really busy for even spending time alone with God. Try asking yourself this:
Have you loved God more today than yesterdays'?
We're in bad shape. Often, left wounded in a battle fighting for academic and cca excellence (because these things cannot satisfy our eternal longing). Our spiritual life? Who cares? So as long i fulfill it on Sundays and just stay away from troubles. Where was the last time you ever weep for your wrongdoings and found conviction in the Lord for a change? When was the last time you challenged your bad habits and overcome with the Lord's strength? When was the last time you cried like a baby because you needed the touch of the Lord so much? When was the last time you ever got so lost in the presence of the Lord because you're deeply immersed in holy worship? When was the last time you gave thanks in great and sincere gratefulness?
Do we Have a Hunger for God today? Have you got a longing to reach God in a whole different level and spectrum? So as long we lose sight of the gospel and God, we lose sight of EVERYTHING.
It can be simply put into illustration of a small circle and a outer bigger circle. The small circle is our core (hearts) and the outer bigger circle is influence (studies,work,social life,friends,etc). You guys sang 'centre of my life' before? That God is the centre of it all and your Majesty, i surrender all? Our core is God, and the influence is your surrender. Often, we operate in a way, outer circle in, instead of inner circle out. It cannot be influence determining who we really are, should be who we really are to determine what our influence will become right? Spend some time thinking about this.
2 Chronicles 7:14~if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land
I'm proposing a day of dedication for spiritual feeding especially personal and corporate worship where all the leaders can come humbly before our Almighty God and seek a deeper relationship together through proper fellowship and support. So, i need you guys to reply in the comment under this post which evenings in the week is better for you to meet up k?
I assure you (with my conviction in God), it'll be a great time with God and won't be a waste.
......n i would love your presence
Speedlight Salvation Sunday on 9th Mar 2008
An email had been sent to you from higher HQ! Although they say no cell-group, we'll carry on as usual, with worship and sharing but shorter cos we'll have longer lunch and fellowship with our members!
You can share about:
1) Interestingly, how you've gotten saved!
-who brought you
-what made you decide
-where were you saved
-when were you saved
-why did you do what you did
-how did you do it
5Ws, 1H easy!
(rejoice the message be it you're 1st generation or 2nd generation Christians. Your salvation in God has that power to inspire them on!)
2) Which part of the Bible brought about your conviction?
-find the verse that convicts your salvation the most
-share about what that verse means to you
-how did it change and move your life
-anything interesting or lesson that you've learnt or the Lord has taught you?
3) How could you value add to the members on your sharing?
-things like how they could search and find what's the real motivation behind their own salvation
-how they could be like you sharing your own testimony and empowering other people's life
-make them realize that price Jesus really paid was extremely heavy and His great commission for us remains today and what on earth are we gonna do about it?
Love!
